Life.Is.Wonderful.

I posted a quote on facebook last night that really hit home when I saw it on Pinterest (which, on a side note, if you've not checked out Pinterest, do it now! So much to see, so many ideas! http://www.pinterest.com/) I know a lot of you have me as a friend on facebook, but some don't, and some may not have seen the quote...

"Life doesn't have to be perfect to be wonderful!"

And let me tell you... Life.Is.Wonderful!

The Ring

The following post will probably be frowned upon by some. There is a photo of my sons backside. Now, let it be known, if he was much older than 3, or if there wasn't a PRICELESS story to go along with it, I wouldn't post it. I generally don't post a lot of photos of derrieres. In fact, I typically shy away from photographing derrieres at all. When my kids were babies, that was an exception, of course, because who doesn't wuv a sweet wittle baby booty! But beyond the age of about 12 months {give or take} I really try to refrain from rump pictures. This being said, proceed at your own discretion!

My son dressed up like a skeleton today. Honestly. He wore his skeleton halloween costume from last year {albeit way. too. small.} pretty much the entire day. Now, what's a skeleton without some accessories?! So along with the skeleton outfit, he wore flip flops on his feet, a rubber glove on one hand, and a plastic 'Cars' ring on the other hand. All Day.

Around dinner time, I heard Drew yelling for me from the bathroom. I went in to find he needed his behind wiped. {trust me....I'm going somewhere with this!} I got him all clean, and he hopped down off the potty. He started looking around and asked "Mom, wheres that thing I was wearing on my finger?" I replied, "your ring? I don't know, but why don't you pull your pants up, wash your hands, and go look for it?" He obliged, and was off to find his ring.

Probably 5 minutes later, Drew comes walking into the living room. Now, when I say 'walking', I mean waddling like there was a corn cob stuck somewhere that the sun doesn't shine, if you know what I'm saying!

Drew: "Mommy, I think I pooped my pants."

Me: "Are you serious?! You JUST went potty!!!"

Drew: "I know, but I think there's poop in my pants!"

I pull his pants out to look for buried 'treasure', and see nothing. I knew there had to be something uncomfortable that was causing the funky walk and the poop in the pants feeling, so I pulled his pants down. This is what I saw:

Seriously, you can't make this stuff up!!

I can only imagine that as he was sitting on the potty, he dropped his ring. It must have landed in his underwear. I didn't realize when he asked where his ring was, that he had lost it IN the bathroom. When he pulled his pants up, the ring got wedged somewhere slightly unpleasant. Poor kid! I instantly lost it and of course snapped a picture. Jordyn then was curious what I found in his nether region that was so stinkin funny, so she came over. She starts laughing too. We're both in tears of laughter, and poor Drew reaches around to see what's so funny. He finds the ring, and of course then he started laughing too!

Truly, that's the hardest I've laughed in a LONG time! We gave the ring a nice little bubble bath, and away he went.

Tonight during storytime I looked down to realize he was wearing the ring as a toe ring! He cracks me up!!
Anyway, that's the story of the ring. If you were offended, I apologize. But honestly, if you were able to read this story without even cracking a smile, you're a better person than I am!

Happy Birthday Grandma!

As you saw in my last post, my Grandma turned 79 last Thursday. Now, being 79, she's kinda hard to 'pull one over' on. She sees it all, and she'll call you on it! ;) Since we wanted to celebrate with her, and thought it'd be fun to surprise her, we planned a small dinner for her. My uncle told her he was taking her to dinner at 5:30. To her surprise, 4 cars, carrying 4 adults and 5 kids pulled in her driveway at 5:15. We brought lasagna, salad, bread, and the kids and I baked her a cake...

And what is a party without some gifts?! I had framed a photo of my kids and I, and decided to let them pick out their own gifts for her as well. Random they were, but they were sweet, innocent, and definately made the birthday girl smile! Andrew chose a toy firetruck for her. In all of his 3 years of wisdom, he knew she would love to have a toy firetruck! He was right, she loved it. It came right from his little heart, and it made her day! Jordyn chose a necklace and 2 plates. She picked out 1 plate with flowers on it for her, and decided since Uncle Mark lives there also, she should get a striped plate as well, for him to use. Always thinkin, that girl! It was worth it just to see how proud they were to give their gifts to their great grandma. What a moment!

Here's Grandma, Jordyn and Drew showing Grandmas new necklace and plates!

Now Jordyn and cousin Dane showing Jordyns gifts again, as well as the firetruck Drew picked out.

Grandma, I hope we made this birthday a special one! We love you!!

7

Today, we celebrate the birthday of someone incredibly important in my life.

My Grandma.

I won't spill the beans and tell you how old she is today.

You may be able to guess by looking at these pictures.

(If you're like, super smart and stuff...)

She's a rock to me.

Superwoman.

She raised 5 kids, stay at home momma.

She can pull things out of the oven with no oven mitts.

(No Lie)

She has a huge heart.

She loves my kids and they love her to pieces.

She loves me and I love her to pieces.

She's pretty much amazing.

Today is her day!

Here's a story:

My Grandma is:

The 7th daughter

OF a 7th daughter

Today is her birthday.

That means she's the 7th daughter

OF a 7th daughter

born on the 7th day

of the 7th month.

(and she sneezes 7 sneezes at a time.)

again, no lie!

Happy Birthday Grandma.

We LOVE you!!
