Tubin!

Well on June 17, Drew got his tubes put in his ears FINALLY!! It is unreal the difference in this child (WHEN he's had a NAP!!) His speech is improving every day, it's SO exciting to hear him talk!! The other day he yelled "Mom! Dink!" He wanted a drink...I was ecstatic! That's the first time he has verbally told me what he wants!! Here are some before and after pictures - obviously he looks the same, but still cute! lol I'll try to get a good video of him talking to post soon!

Riding his bike at Grandma and Grandpas the night before!

What a ham!

In his sweet little hospital gown! It was huge on him, but still adorable!!
Ohhh and No worries, Drew made sure EVERY SINGLE locker in the changing room was closed when we walked out of that room. I know you were concerned... ;)

Picking at his hospital bracelet trying to get it off. He wasn't a huge fan of that.

Right after surgery in the recovery room. They prepared us for him to be grumpy, screaming, crying, kicking, etc. (pretty normal for Drew...) But when we walked back he was smiling and waving and talking to the nurses!! :)

At Bob Evans for breakfast RIGHT after...the boy was starvin! lol
He had blueberry pancakes with whipped cream, butter, syrup, and ketchup on them. Disgusting, but he loved it!

Laying on grandmas couch relaxing after we got back in town!
He was such a champ!!! Made me so proud! :)

On My Mind; Off The Cuff...

I've had a lot on my mind lately... okay, always!! But here are some ramblings of things I've been thinking about. Some are personal, some aren't so much....but it's a process I'm going through as I try to move forward with my life! Here goes....

  • Money Truly Does NOT Buy Happiness
  • I miss being married, but I do NOT miss the person I was married to.
  • I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired!!
  • Tough times really do show who your real friends are...
  • I may be mentally strong, but I'm emotionally weak.
  • The pain of words/actions hurt far worse than physical pain.
  • The smiles and snuggles from my kids make my world go 'round!
  • Holding a grudge requires far more energy than getting over yourself and making up.
  • The lines between love and hate and love and lust are very, very thin.
  • I don't need you to agree with me or support ($$) me, I just need you to love me as I am.
  • Don't regret, just learn the lesson and move on.
  • I'd rather be happy than financially rich any day of the week.
  • Life is short - LIVE it!
  • The One whose judgement matters in the end, already knows.
  • Standing in a garage doesn't make you a car any more than sitting in a church makes you a Christian.
  • Depression is real. It is an illness. It does not have a power button, and it sneaks up and engulfs you when you may not expect it. Good people and good medicine helps! :)
  • Enjoy the small things:
  • blowing bubbles
  • a childs smile
  • a summer breeze
  • fresh fruit
  • fragrant flowers
  • swimming pools
  • kids laughing
  • blowing dandelions
  • evening walks
  • hugs
  • mail
  • music
  • a glass of wine
  • compliments
  • a new shirt
  • new babies
  • ETC, ETC, ETC!!!!!

You can't please everyone, so you may as well just aim to please yourself. Not by being selfish, but by doing whats right in your life. There will always be those people that would do anything to knock you down, or kick you when you're already down. That's jealousy at its finest. Ignorant and petty. Let them be, they're just unhappy, bitter people. Learn who truly cares, and lean on them. When someone offers to help, let them. But pay it forward. {Which, incidentally is a great movie if you've never seen it....!!} There are good days and bad, but you need to remember the good days and learn from the bad. History doesn't have to repeat itself....you just have to grow wiser as you age. These are all things that you all already know, I'm sure. These are all things that I already knew. However, this is a lot of what is weighing on my mind lately. Not, by FAR, everything.....but a decent chunk of it. I'm trying to just breathe deeply and keep pushing ahead. There are always brighter days to come!!! ;)

I've got lots of picture posts coming....our internet was down for awhile. Just had to vent a bit before I updated with photos! Stay Tuned...

Before..

This is just a short 'before' video of Andrew talking. We go early Thursday morning to get his tubes, and we're hoping for a huge turnaround after that. I know it'll take time, but I'm so excited for my baby boy to finally FEEL GOOD and develop his speech!! He's got such personality and I can't wait to hear what my little guy has been trying to tell me for SO LONG! :)

Wish us luck, and say a little prayer if you could...

See Drew.

My son tries to be independent. He is an extremely determined little guy, and he prefers to have things his way. {Don't we all!!} He's getting better and better at being able to drink out of a cup without spilling it down his shirt, but sometimes I just don't feel like chancing it. {Yeah, I guess you can call me SuperMom..} Sometimes when you've already done 2 loads of laundry, fixed supper for yourself AND the kids {because lets face it....sometimes I choose my battles and they choose their own dinner}, and cleaned up the dining room after said dinner, you just don't feel like giving the boy a cup of juice that will end up down his chin, shirt, shorts, and on the table, chair and floor. Ahem...excuse the run-on sentence...
So as I was saying, my son likes things to go his way. And sometimes when Mom says no, that just means you need to trick her. You know, don't deliberately disobey her, but put a little spin on what it is you want, so that you can have your way, but not get in trouble. {I think my overabundance of punctuation is definately deflecting from all of my run-on sentences, right?!?!}
SO, case in point, see the following pictures:

{I know you can't actually 'see' the above, however you can use your own imagination to illustrate the story. I'm going for the Dick and Jane style story, and letting you visualize this just exactly the way you'd like. Does it get any better than that?!}
