~Ohhhh I believe there are angels among us...sent down to us, from somewhere up
above..They come to You and Me, in our darkest hours. To show us how to live, to
teach us how to give, to guide us with the light of love!~
I have a story to share with all of you. My daughter has been
very curious about life and death, heaven, God, etc lately. Sometimes we go for
walks in the cemetery, and she asks a million questions, and soaks up as much
information as she can. The other day she asked if we could go for a walk "at
that place, where people die and put up signs"! How precious! Anyway, she loves
reading the stones, talking about and sometimes to God, and talking about heaven
and angels. I think she's really beginning to develop her faith, and I love how
amazed she is by everything around her. The following conversation took place
over a span of about 3 days, following the passing of my aunt...
Jordyn: Mommy, tomorrow you have to go to work, and I have to go to school,
right?
Me: Yes, you'll go to school, but Mommy has to go to a funeral instead of work.
Jordyn: Aww, a funeral? Why?
Me: Well, sweetie, Aunt Laura passed away.
Jordyn: Aunt Laura died? Awww, (starts crying) but I'll miss her!
Me: I know, sweetie, but remember she was very sick and didn't feel good. God
couldn't make her better here, so he took her to Heaven to be with him so he
could heal her.
Jordyn: (still crying) I'll miss her! But it's ok, because when we're old and we
die, we'll see her again. Right Mommy?
Me: That's absolutely right, sweetpea.
(next day)
Jordyn: Mommy, did Aunt Laura fly to heaven?
Me: Well, I guess you could look at it that way. She's an angel now, in heaven,
with God.
Jordyn: So when it storms, will that be Aunt Laura bowling now? (thunder)
Me: Yes, and I think she'll probably bowl with the other angels very soon, and
God will take her picture (lightning) like he does the other angels. That's how
they'll welcome her to Heaven!
Jordyn: If I hear thunder, I'll just say, Ohhh you crazy Aunt Laura!
(next night)
(it's starting to thunder/storm)
Jordyn: Mommy!!! That hurts my ears! I don't like thunder!
Me: Aww, sweetie, remember who that is?
Jordyn: (giggles) Yeah, that's crazy Aunt Laura! Can you tell her and God to be
quiet because they're hurting my ears!
Me: Well, they won't be loud for very long, they're just bowling, since Laura is
a new angel in Heaven.
Jordyn: Awww, she's an angel in heaven, but Mommy, she was an angel down here
too!!
That, my friends, is innocent Faith!!! To what extent does she understand? I can't be positive. However, I love that she's trying to learn and understand all about life, death, heaven, and God. That is the start of her Faith in our God, and it couldn't be any sweeter!! :) Also, sidenote, the picture at the top of this page, was the double rainbow we saw on our way home after the Memorial Service. We went through a short storm, then saw this. I snapped a picture with my cell phone...couldn't pass it up. What a perfect day to be reminded that God has his hand in everything, and there is always a rainbow after the storm...
